Welcome Our members are retired business and professional persons residing in Durham Region, including Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Brooklin, Oshawa and other areas. Our monthly meetings feature informative and entertaining speakers. Along with monthly social events and 29 activity groups who meet regularly, it's a great way to meet new people, make new friends and discover new interests. OCTOBER SPEAKER Vintage Soul |

Vintage Soul - Musical Performance Vintage Soul is a live performance duo featuring the musical talents of Nick Reynolds and Cheryl Gow. Over the past 13 years working together in various bands and musical projects we discovered a shared passion for “vintage” music and decided to create a working duet catering to more mature adults. Covering a wide selection of songs spanning 4 decades beginning early 1930’s thru late1970’s with music from artists such as Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Nat King Cole and also Elton John, The Monkees, Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison and The Beatles. Vintage Soul is the ideal fit for the more mature crowd. |

Melody Makers Choir - October 20, 2026 Our next PMAG (Probus Music Appreciation Group) mini‑concert is confirmed, and this one brings something new to our series: a full choir. On October 20, 2026, we welcome The Melody Makers, the 23‑member choir from the Clarington PROBUS Club, to perform at Harwood Chartwell. This event will be open to ALL Durham West Probus members. Sharing Our Recipes |
Everyone has a Carrot Cake recipe that has been handed down through the family and shows up at all the festive days. This is the best Carrot Cake recipe from my family and the easiest one to make that has ever come out of my kitchen. It is a large cake that will feed a quite a crowd. “The Big Guy” is a superfan when I put the cream cheese icing on the top. He has grown a “long sweet tooth” that has a voracious appetite!
