"The Big Guy" and I usually spend the evening of Valentine's Day cooking up a fabulous meal. This year, I'm softening him up with a "Creamy Garlic Shrimp" dish, steamed vegetables, white rice, and the rest of the bottle of white wine. It is best to serve the same wine in your glass as the wine that you use in the sauce. Since shrimp has a mild, delicate flavour, we generally like a light-bodied white wine with high acidity, such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc or a Chardonnay. I have also included an alternative Piccata flavour choice to make the dish a more savoury shrimp dish. I will send "The Big Guy" on a trek to the Capital Letter Store for wine with a stop at the market for shrimp. |

I generally buy the 31-40 size frozen shrimp that is shelled with tails left on. That means there will be 31- 40 shrimp in a pound. I usually thaw 14-15 as a good feed for two hungry seniors. Scallops, chicken or fish can be substituted for the shrimp. If you buy the bottle of wine strategically, you will not end up with leftover wine... if that could possibly ever be a thing!
